Ohm mudra, also divinity gesture is a mudra of hatha yoga. A mudra (Sanskrit for stamp or touch) is a term that goes back to the classical texts of the Vedas and in this case means that the hand is held in a certain position so there prana is passed through a certain way. Mudras are mainly practiced during meditation. The ohm mudra are the tips of the thumb and forefinger together and together they make an "o". The fingers different meanings ascribed. The thumb represents the divine energy. It is the symbol of power which is not conditioned by karma. The index finger is associated with Jupiter and symbolizes the ego and expansion. The energies would be governed by unconscious patterns. The "o" represents the balance between the karma of God and the individual in question. Jnana mudra (wijsheidsmudra) would reveal the deity and ahamkara mudra (the ego-transcending gesture) individuality, as they come together in this mudra and only life manifests. By constantly making Ohm mudra, one would be more peaceful and less aggressive and more solidarity with itself.
